Phish On! ? Bogus Social Security Scare-Mail VS this FREE Book

I doubt these kind of undocumented scare-mail claims.
I've received SSI scam chain-mails before (this or another Hoax version that is similar) and usually just Delete them. This time I did more reading, and will Volunteer some time to try to stop further waste of time and confusion.
The operative principle....
Please do not sign or forward Petitions on the Street OR the Web advocating changes of laws unless they are accompanied by reasonable details.
Scare-mail is just that. Generally these emails play on emotion, twist facts and become Hoaxes with no end date...and that can cause alot of hassle for people whose emails are included in a series of Forwarded perdition Petitions.
- a warning - these undocumented chain letters are used for Phishing. emails displayed in the TO: and CC: box get forwarded & make you more likely to recieve:
limitless, exciting Lottery news!
married women invitations
Letters and pathetic appeals from Nigeria, Liberia and elsewhere,

porn, bogus stock tips,
mystery LOTTERY WINNINGS
important! repetitive Bank info - from somebody else's bank
random Order Confirmations
Viagra & penis enhancement offers, hundreds of tantalizing Jack-rabbit Vibrator appeals,
and endless Password, SSI # requests...perhaps sent from YOUR adress to thousands!

dramatic chain mail often involves intentional false information -
just like the baseless rumors Bill O'Reilly and the neo-Cons routinely use
as a strategy to dumb-down and disaffect, or exploit, your Vote.
In this case it appears the origional Sender wants to tip the scales toward Republicans in the Fall elections, since they've adopted an anti-immigrant theme in so many places. Using untrue hype and half-truths, is a smarmy, wrong-headed approach.
It's a ruse - & I try to confront stinky tactics when i smells 'em...
Today someone reading that Petition (with our emails on it) just may use our names as the Sender for all sort of stuff...and you could have consequences. I've been stung before - by someone using my Yahoo address. Be sure you click on SECURE log-in buttons when signing in to mailboxes, btw.
Folks also Phish addresses to try to earn points/bonuses for Product Referrals & Rewards. Which means - ACK - we get even more uninvited mail.
by the way: A Republican, Sen Arlen Specter, introduced the Senate Social Security Act that was passed this Spring...in collaboration with GW Bush' own call for Immigration Reform.

The Act also updates VISA requirements, and uses Employers and the Social Security ID Card System to try to document Immigrants, and to try to CRACK DOWN on illegal Immigrants. It does more to impose a Identity Card rules and Monitoring than anything else, for Homeland Security. It revises clauses that affect Green Cards, Permanent Residents; and allows visiting students to work outside their field of study.

The act...Would make it unlawful for an employer to hire, or to recruit or refer for a fee, or continue to employ, an alien for employment in the United States knowing, or with reckless disregard, that the alien is unauthorized to work. (some Employers, like Farmers, Restaraunts, and Temp Hire sites are concerned about the effect this Act will have on them - Criminalizing Americans who are Employers does not seem the best way to move forward)..
Past Bills allow use of Social Security Surpluses to buy down Debt!
Now that didn't sound so bad under the Clinton/Gore Administration.
But here we are in another unpopular and unwinnable Foreign Policy action series, creating massive Debt - by the Billions - that threatens our economy and future surpluses...far more than other causes. Social Security Legislation is not the only policy arena that seems to have been hijacked by Homeland Security.
While I do not agree with his concern that a real Soc Security crisis will occur in the next 15 years, the following writer presents an interesting view of how taxing immigrants can be part of the solution. That is presumably part of the motive behind the legislation passed by the US Senate last Spring...to get more of 'em on the Tax Rolls...like other workers.

Bush Turns back on Accountable Employees Again!
Clean water in YOUR child's glass?
Who knows. Few places in the USA are as pristine as Oregon - with our Cascading waterfalls. Yet we fight tenaciously to protect the natural areas that naturally filter Portland's water.
Now the people who feel the need to speak out to call for intervention regarding serious threats to American's drinking water and ecosystems and those who know they should report criminal situations are themselves being silenced by the Bush administration. Make no mistake - the Bush League is covering up some serious sins.
NO public employee should fear loss of career from trying to DO their Job. Voters: This better bite back to dump some Bush Insiders this November. Shall we begin with Senator Conrad Burns of Montana? Ask the Cheyene People, whose water is being poisoned at an alarming rate by Coalbed Methane extraction methods...in a very fragile watershed. Geri Small, pictured top-right, is one of the people holding the line against Coal, with dignity. Her sister is also a significant leader in that arena of resource protection. Their Brother, Gary Small is my friend, and a wonderful musician and composer....winner of a recent Native American Music Award! I am proud of them all...and I pray that with their consent, I can someday offer meaningful help.
Silencing our nations best is no way to create a legacy. Remember - with our involvement, the Rule of Law, including checks and balances of a professional Civil Service, and an independant Judiciary - can work to protect us all. We must ensure that all have a voice. Where are the moderate Republicans who can restore sanity to their Party?

Happy Birthday, Mr President!
Here is me about 10 years ago, with my now-dead friend Charlie Papp, campaigning for Clinton/Gore and an 80 year old Congressional Candidate who was a founder and longtime President of one of Oregon's Teacher's Unions.That year I was a Clinton/Gore Delegate to the Democratic National Convention...
I'd already been up close to Hillary Rodham Clinton (OMG - what an awesome and articulate SPEAKER!) and I had already shaken hands with Bill Clinton in Portland on one of his many visits: WOW!!!!! what big, soft hands - and charisma! and at the convention I came to truly appreciate Al and Tipper Gore. Charlie video-taped a fantastic speech by Tipper - before the nations top educators. I believe she is preparing to support Karina in her first campaign someday. Yeah, Baby!
America is lucky that this team still unselfishly serves our Interests - and that of global survival, even if some don't quite Get It. It does take a Village.

Love that photo on loyd's Empire Blog -
it reminds me of the one from the EMPIRE WAKE...when HOODLUMS draped the building in black, after even Loyd was evicted. The new owners carved up his customized love-Lair into tiny boxes. The Greedy bastards - ruined our fun! True Bummer - and the end of an era.
And we'd do it all again.... (humming) would we?
It's probably Mark Neuman holding the camera. He was frequently in cahoots with the vivacious instigator and former S*x Goddess of the Empire: Valerie Thiebeau. I'll never forget the work she put in for Loyd's um, 60 or 65 Birthday Roast - in which the answer to every wuestion was Who is Loyd Hubbard?
The One who remains Val's top henchman in any Empire-related caper, is Richard Meyer.
They wrote songs about former lovers, broken plumbing and roaches for birthday banquets.
The Dylan-style Birthday Video created by Rodger Shervey for Mark Neuman - brought those Empire Love Roasts to a new level of high art. Solo Songs performed by Geoff Seaman and Zac Reisner also were memorable that evening
Remember The Roach Halloween Costume? Good one, made by Mark Neuman. I found it all tattered, stuffed in the Empire dumpster one year, so I pulled it out and wore it to more Costume parties, until someone stole the head. That costume may still be out there somewhere...gross, smelly and terrorizing the squeamish. Empire Roaches never die.
Well, actually, I killed plenty while living there. Became expert at the light-on, pounce!
